The Truth about the NFPA-130 Small Parts Exemption
NFPA-130 provides a “small parts exemption” from material testing. However, it’s not enough to simply state “my part is small”.
In truth, the exemption applies to small parts that will not contribute materially to fire growth in end use configuration; and to show that a material won’t contribute materially to fire growth NFPA requires either test results (so there really isn’t any exemption from testing), or a Fire Hazard Analysis (FHA).
Tenco can provide the FHA needed to allow components to qualify for the small parts exemption.
