Vacuum trains, hardly glamorous, are powerful fighters in the endless struggle to keep the subway clean and the air fresher.
NEU International Railways designed and supplied three R251 Vacuum Trains to NYCT. Tenco established the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) program for the R251, including the EMC Plan, test planning, design analysis, field testing, and results reporting.
NYCT classifies the R251 as a Non-Third Rail Powered (NTRP) Work Car. In 2002, Turner Engineering created the NYCT EMC Standard for NTRP Work Cars.
