Fire Life Safety

Keeping new smart vehicles, battery storage systems, and high performance transit systems safe in the real world requires demonstrable compliance with Fire Life Safety (FLS) requirements.  Tenco expert staff deliver right-sized FLS analysis, design, and certification support, for critical topics of configuration and egress, materials and testing, and first responder safety devices and instructions.

Our projects include:

  • Fire Hazard Analyses for railcars, systems, equipment, and components, per NFPA and EN standards and national and local regulations
  • FLS Program development for new generation Automated People Movers
  • Battery energy storage system (BESS) and Rechargeable Electrical Energy Storage System (REESS) fire safety provisions
  • Tunnel fire analyses, including viability evaluation, egress calculations, ventilation design assessment, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) calculations, event tree analysis for fire, derailment, OCS failure
  • Comprehensive assessment of emergency scenarios and development of system responses
  • Compliance with requirements to produce first responder safety devices and instructions for electric vehicles according to domestic and international regulations and standards
  • Inspection, testing, integration, and verification of active rail transit projects as agency Fire Life Safety representatives.
